I think it depends on which 2 tents you are comparing.
Both good , but the khyams may have the edge over the vangos ,
for example, comparing the vango tigris and khyam ontario, 8 berth tunnel tents , similar sort of price , the khyam has 5000 HH waterproofing , the vango has 3000.
From personal experience I would have to say Khyam, we had a Vango (sieve- can't rememer what it was called but god did it leak) it lasted 1 holiday and we put it in the bin on the site. Bought our Ontario 6 when we got home and have never looked back.

OK, just to be different I am a Vango man. We are now on our third. Why so many? The first was the Diablo with the saggy bedrooms, so we swopped it for a Killington - outer pitch first but didn't find it as cosy. Now back to a Diablo. Always found them to be good quality and able to stand up to some pretty harsh conditions. However, I can't really comment on the Khyams.
Have a look for yourself, compare the quality (first) and design then, hopefully last price. There's no way you can tell if a tent will suit you just by looking at pictures.
I'd have to say Vango, tent has always been completely reliable and stood up to the most horrendous weather in Devon couple of years ago. Torrential rain, gales, locust plagues!! (Have had no experience with Khyam though) but think I'll always stay with VANGO - think they prob come in a bit cheaper than Khyam too.
PS: ours is 3000 HH - never had any trouble with leaking.
definitely the Vango...stand up to anything...if erected properly.Ie before the first drink of the holiday,,,usually find it wise to hide the beers until finished set up.
I have never owned a Vango so I not going to say they are bad , but we have owned a khyam for 10 yrs and it is still going strong , but to be honest I doubt if there is much in it these days , and both makes get good reports on here so its what ever you like yourself really.
I think I currently own seven Vangos. Nothing against Khyams, but I just can't imagine buying anything else.
All the different models have their pros and cons though. The Khyam fast erect systems are amazing, for example, but they are quite bulky when packed. Vango does a wider range of styles. Khyams have 5000HH (some of them) and most Vangos are 3000HH...but as 1500HH is the UK minimum, they both are well above standard.
Just don't buy a Khyam folding windbreak. Most expensive piece of useless tat I've ever fallen for.....

We now have a Khyam but it hasn't really been tested yet. Fairly happy although I get the feeling these days all the brands are manufactured in the same factories in China. Look at the Gelert, Vango, Sunncamp, Khyam and Outwell porches that can be bought, the design is virtually identical.
Generally you get what you pay for, but I reckon buying direct from a reputable supplier is more important as if/when something goes wrong they usually are more helpful than faceless websites IMHO.
I have 2 khyams and 2 Vango's I can't compare like for like because the Khyams are larger and the vango's are our small tents. All are *good* tents tho and I'd be happy to buy both brands again in the future.
Our large Rigidome is very stable and strong, but also very bulky.
