HELP!!!!!!!! Is there anyone out there in or near Poole (Dorset)  that is prepared to lend a hand showing camping virgins how to finish putting up our Cabanon Hawaii and earn themselves a drink to boot. We have managed to errect it but are utterly lost as to how to complete the erection of the canopy the securing of the SIG and putting guide ropes in place.I know that to many this is a simple task but we have never ever put a tent up in our lives. Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Keefus

We bought an Hawai which we partially erected a few weeks ago in the garden.  Unfortunately, can't help you with the canopy as we did not get that far as it looked like it was going to rain, but this is the procedure we followed for the tent itself:-

- Peg out the SIG on the ground - I would suggest pulling the edges tight, but not putting the pegs all the way in at first so there is a little give OR alternatively peg the four corners (this is what is recommended for a Cabanon Barbados).  Assemble the roof part of the frame at the side of the tent, unzip the front door completely, carry the assembled roof frame inside, and then raise the roof section and fit the legs.  The tent is now loosely erected.

- I fit the guy ropes to the metal rings using a reef knot.  I would then peg out the SIG properly, raise the leg poles to put some tension in, and finaly peg out and tension the guys.

Hope this is some help as it is only a suggestion as we haven't fully erected our Hawai as yet.

Dave

Many thanks for that Dave....believe it or not but I lay awake last night and thought that the only posible way of getting the SIG right would be to peg it out first just as you suggested (great minds think alike?.....or is it small minds seldom differ?) anyways I'm going to try and get hold of some assembly details from Cabanon and have another bash this weekend so fingers crossed that with your suggestions and a glass or two of J.P. Chenet I will cease to be a virgin any longer! Woopy Doo!!!

thanks for the instructions Kaz and Dave, thats exactly what I did. I love the tent. Mine has a seperate bedrooom inner to hang whereas I'm sure the one I saw on display at Forest Camping only had a divider sheet to hang. The 2nd bedroom is just the divider sheet that zips up the middle but we use it as a dressing area not a bedroom so dont mind. have you had any trips out in yours yet?
