Reporting back on the Weathermaster L. Thought this was going to be the perfect tent, lovely size, light and airy, loads of windows, even extra ones at the sleeping end which weren't shown in the brochure illustration, fairly easy for 2 to put up, looking forward to being protected by steel poles and the 6000mm of hydrostatic head but....
Tested it in the garden(sheltered but raining) June 09 and got small leaks( from where mesh sewn in on vents above doors on side) and at back, possibly from where guys attached. But no time to get a replacement( if it was just bad sealing) before hols, so went off to Angelsey (July). We camp in a really exposed possition, and in the wind and rain, had more leaks: drips from previous places, plus where inners attached and spray in through canvas in places. The porches above the side doors came under a lot of stress from the wind and the flexible poles pushed through the canvas straps with eyelets, that hold it out taut.
In less severe conditions the tent would have been perfect ( as long as the smaller leaks from testing in the garden hadn't happened on a replacement) but I was disappointed that it hadn't lived-up to my expectations after all the research I did to try and get a really sturdy, weatherproof tent.
Idid get a complete refund from Go Outdoors with no problems and am now looking for one to "test" at the same spot this year !
I'm interested in the Vango Aruba 600 (cotton, nylon was really noisy when it flapped) but I think it's new this year, so no campers reports yet.
