Does anybody know anything about this tent? Is it a good make? Came across it on a website and it looks perfect for what we need, but as a novice have never heard of the manufacturer. Thanks for all your help.

Go for it. It is a super tent. I have only used mine once - in April - and it was fantastic, but I would say it would only sleep 5 adults or maybe 2 adults & 3 children. I have recommended this tent to quite a few people who have gone on to buy it and all have been really pleased with it. If I were you though I would try and find a showroom that has one on display so you can see it in the flesh, so to speak.

Thanks so much. We are actually looking for a tent for two adults and three children so it sounds perfect. Is it possible to zip the larger compartment into two smaller ones in case our son wants to get away from his sisters?! Plus do you know how sturdy it is (had high winds last year!)? Thanks.

Hi JenClaire,

We haven't had thetent out in high winds yet as the weekend we went for our tryout the weather behaved itself, but the tent felt very substantial and secure. The large compartment does zip up to provide 2 separate 'rooms' so should be perfect. With three children I think this tent would be as near perfect as you will get at a reasonable price, the living space is to die for. Don't forget the footprint groundsheet, it keeps the main groundsheet clean and also helps with siting the tent - you put that down first and the tent on top - saves moving the tent if it's not in the right place. If you can search for another member on here - TURBOWAYNE - he has just bought an Eagle and seems to have got a good deal to include the footprint & carpet.

Hi All

Will hopefully get out for the first time with the Eagle 6 this weekend & a test pitch tomorrow weather pending etc etc.

Yes i think I had a pretty good all in price 319.00 including postage, & the footprint carpet & footprint groundsheet.

http://www.campingworld.co.uk/Models.aspx?ModelID=2151

We have 3 children so will let u know etc how it goes this weekend. The dimensions seem perfect though as we did not want a too big tent or too difficult to put up & suitable for long weekends as well as a longer stay perhaps. A difficult combination to achieve but on paper the Eagle 6 appears to be the best all-rounder I have seen.

As said will let u all know etc etc,

Hi Marilyn

Pitched the Eagle today but under not ideal conditions and after a 24hr shift so stressed etc etc.

The question I have is what is the best way to pitch the tent ??? In regards when first laid out and the bedroom end pegged down. Then obviously the roof poles etc??? What next put all the metal poles in place then lift one at a time or all poles together etc etc???

Please advise as I am sure it is easy to pitch in the correct order etc. The wynnster intructions are not fully comprehensive on exactly the method.

Cheers

Wayne

Hi Wayne, Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you but I've been switched off.

I have no idea how to put on a link so here goes. Click on SEARCH at the top of any page, in SEARCH FOR type Vermont L - then in SEARCH FORUM go for Tent talk, Advice, Information & Recommendations, START SEARCH. Go down to ALL OWNER OF OUTWELL VERMONTS (no.20) which was put on at 7.49pm on 19/3/09. That is where we got the best advice and it worked. When we put it up for a trial we put all poles in and then tried to lift it and it was back breaking, this was soooo much easier.

Good luck and keep me informed. You should be as snug as a bug now with a beeer in hand - lucky person.

We bought a Wynnster Eagle 6 last week, and I am a bit nervous about having to put it up the first time. I've just watched that video and I've read the Wynnster instructions but it's still not clear in my head.

I learn from doing - I just don't want to do anything wrong this time!

Perhaps I should try and run with a test pitch before we go, but our garden isn't wide enough, and I don't know anyones who's is!

Hi,

Why don't you try at the local park. We did and found it invaluable. To be honest I hav forgotten how we put it up as we have now bought a caravan but I am really looking forward to "proper" camping again in the EAGLE as it has so much more room - it really is huge.

   Good luck and enjoy.

Hi, We have this tent and love it !

Pitching is really easy, we do it like this,

Lay the tent on the floor,

Put in all the flexi poles,

Then attatch the steel poles starting at the front so the ends of the poles are pointing to the back end of the tent,

Lift the section of poles at the very back and roughly peg the guy ropes into place,

Then lift the next section and pull out into place, then the same with the remaining sections,

The tent is then basicly up , then you just need to adjust and peg !

Hope this helps.

I remember now and that is exactly the way we did it. The footprint ground sheet is very handy though as it gives you the exact shape to peg out to and of course also protects the sig and gives extra insulation. Then the shelves go in and the table not forgetting the blow up armchairs/sofa. You have so much space that you may have to buy more gear just to fill the living space. Cooking is not a problem as that is done outside in the 'awning'.

  You'll love it.

Does anyone know where I can get the footprint ground sheet for my wynnster eagle 6. I am really struggling to find one as the tents are discontinued now.

If you can't find a tailor made one, then buy a large cheap tarp from B&Q or somewhere similar and make yourself up a DIY footprint.

Works out much cheaper even though there's a hit of labour on your part.
