I've now narrowed my search down for a new tent for this year to either a Royal Bordeaux or the Royal Pescara (after mulling over an Outwell!)

Any pro's or con's between the two greatly appreciated!

Hi jobrer. I'm sure you've been welcomed to UKCS before, but welcome from me too.
I have entertained the idea of a Royal Bordeaux in the past, because I like the shape and layout of that type of tent. I think with the Bordeaux you have a choice of sewn-in or zipped-in groundsheet.
The other advantages of the Bordeaux over the Pescara (to me anyway) are the windows and the canopy. I just think that it would be awfully dark inside the Pescara.
Thats my opinion anyway.

I have the Pescara in blue and it has a light coloured roof so it is quite bright in the living area between the bedrooms, the front porch, which acts as our kitchen as well, has windows all round, then the sun canopy extends 2/3M in front of that. The canopy has detachable sides. The canopy comes with the tent, it is not an "extra".

I have seen the Pescara 8 and the Bordeaux 6 XL on display and think they are both great, the Bordeaux in particuler has a wonderfully large "lounge" with a seperate kitchen/hall area in between the lounge and the sun canopy. Lots of windows down both sides. We decided in favour of the Pescara because total bedroom area was larger and suited two adults one side and two kids the other side, nevertheless the lounge was still very big. Horses for courses really

I have the Pescara in green - though the older version without the sun canopy. I agree with nissbird, it's nice a bright in the main living area and bedrooms - the living area is huge, but the windows are not right off it - one window in the little back porch (not sure how best to describe it!) and loads of windows in the main porch which we also use as our kitchen.

For us we preferred the 'vis-a-vis' sleeping arrangement - 3 metres between us and the kids! . If you're happy having them right next to you and you like to be closer to windows then go for the bordeux! It would be nice to have both I suppose, I must admit I would prefer more windows in the main living area somehow - after quite a few hours spent cowering from the rain in ours last year, started feeling like we could have been anywhere because you didn't see much of the outside world! It was however plenty light enough to sit and read in there - even during a rainstorm!

I just purchased a Royal Pescara, and was surprised (and mega disappointed!) on erecting it over the weekend to find that there was no sun canopy included?

Does anyone know where I can purchase one?

Many thanks!
Melissa.

We bought our Pescara last year and had a couple of holidays in it.  We have the blue option and had no trouble with light.  We use the back porch for the loo area, and the front part for cooking and all the kitchen stuff.  'Then we have a lounge area to sit and chill in.

Unfortunatly our main August week last year wasnt good at all, very wet and windy and this tent stood up to it all with no problems, even though we couldnt get the canopy on until the next day.  In September we went away again and the weather was better and warmer, spent a lovely evening in the rain sitting under the canopy and stayed dry.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this huge tent

Hi Melissa

Looks like the 2009's come with it. If your tent opening has the zip then you may be able to retro add it if you can find one supplied separately, in matching colour.

These folks seem to do a lot in Royal. Might be worth a call.

Or try Royal on leisure at unipart.co.uk.

Hope you get fixed up

PS am working hard

Thanks Dave.

What is the difference between a 'ZG' and an 'LG'??!!

Can you sleep 4 people easily in one pod, we normally all sleep in one pod (me, hubby & kids) and then use the other one as a dressing room. The reason I ask is that on alot of the diagrams it shows the sleeping areas as 3 lots of 2 so I was just wondering if one of these is a 4 berth?

Cheers!

Loving the warm weather we are having.....

Hello,

I think the diff is the ground sheet zip or sewn.

Although the tent is large, the bedromms consist of two innner tents, one large the other small, the larger bedroom has a optional divider thats splits the room thus giving three bedrooms, to be honest we have two teenage boys and its a bit tight as six in a row when adult size would be.

The trip we just had in Padstow the boys decided to sleep in the living room area which in all honesty is huge, it is more a tent that offers quality living area, big windows, roof lights, plenty of space, if your looking for three spacious bedrooms you may wish to consider an alternitive model, but saying that we love it, and every one who enters has a wow moment.

Hope this helps,

regards Dave.
