Sure lots of people do - if it is still on display you can even inspect it for damage/excessive dirt before buying. Just make sure you get a hefty discount from the price brand new.
Four weeks is not long, equal to maybe a years usage, maybe a bit more, with all and sundry proding and poking it, somthing like that I would expect to pay half RRP, certainley no more, as you can knock at least 20% of RRP for a brand new in the bag tent, in most cases anyway.
I would be very cautious about buying an ex display tent, what has it been pitched on whilst on display if it is gravel or hard standing then people walking inside it could damage the groundsheet
What a lot of people tend do when they see a display tent is pull at the seems and tug at the zips to see how well made it is, you also get spares hunters around the display looking to replace the toggle that they lost during the last camp
If the tent is still up have a good look all over it checking all the points above and if you are happy with the way it looks and the price is right then consider it, but if it is down and packed away then I would not touch it unless it was seriously cheap
Hi, might be worth it if it was a polycotton and had been on display indoors or maybe outdoors, probably not if it was nylon and had been standing outside. Have you been able to have a good look at it and check all the zips and seams?

We bought a tent a synthetic inside display tent for half the original price and never had any problems with it at all.
It was from a local independent shop so no too much heavy traffic or tent tuggers.
We bought a BL4 that had been outside for about 5 months at a Yeomans display - it was a different shade of green to what it was suppose to be but it cleaned up really well and you would just think it had been used a few time. Apart from the green there was nothing at all wrong with it. And it was a real bargain too - saved more than £700 on this years prices!!
We have just bought an ex display tent and paid £60 less then it was advetised for(advertised for £199.99 paid £140) we had a good look round it and was assured everything would be checked when they put it down. It had been pitched indoors. we havnt pitched it our selfs but have had it out the bag, the adjustable pegging eyes look slightly worn from were they have been anchored down for a length of time and the outwell door mat looks like a few people have wiped there feet on it. We will know more once pitched apart from that all seems well.
