Yes we have the gelert horizon 8, i love it. We spent ages searching for something big enough to accomodate me,OH and 2 girls under 2. Dosent take long to put up we did it first time in under a hour with the 2 kids running under our feet.

We had the Horizon 6, nice tent, but it didn't stand up to wind (on two occasions) and need pole sections replacing (and a night in the car).

It's a fairweather tent IMHO.

Good luck

Can anyone please state definitively what the proofing HH of the 2009 Horizon 8 is? I have seen both 3000mm and 5000mm quoted for this model - sometimes on the same website! Did the material/specs change at some point?

TIA,
Hilge

Thanks Six. In that case, I think that it must have been downrated at some point, since on several sites it's still logo'd as HH5000...Cheers.

I guess that it's pretty academic over around 1500mm anyhow - even for the UK. The Horizon 8 is still our leading contender - saw it up at DW Camping (A259 between Chichester and Bognor) last W/E and appeared to be a lot of tent for the money...

We were confused by this, on the tent itself it clearly says 5000 Weatherchecked, but does that refer to HH? I would have thought so.

On the Horizon 8 2009 Model we've just picked up, it says 3000 Weatherchecked.

FWIW - the Gelert Meridians that we've seen are still stencilled 5000..looks like the Horizons have been downgraded sometime in the last 2 years...not that we're bothered - still a fantastic amount of tentage for the money, IMHO (£219)!

We went to Stapeley water gardens yesterday to have a look at some tents and decided on the horizon 8 too!  As you say you seem to get loads of room and versatility for your money!  Just counted out the change bottle and yay we will be going back to buy one soon as.
