Hi there,

Quick question..... thinking of buying a Idaho L and wondered if anyone could help me with a couple of queries.

Firstly, the 'door' between the porch area and the inner area- does it have a fully zipped door or just a curtain type thing to pull across? (all the pics I've seen are with the porch fully open to the inside).

Secondly, having only ever had smaller dome tents I'm a bit concerned about the stability/waterproofing of tunnel tents..... how does it stand up to the bad weather?

And thirdly, it seems very very heavy.... do the poles come in a seperate pack or does it pack into one bag? The combined weight of over 40kg would make the bag unliftable surely?

Thanks in advance if anyone can answer my queries....

Hi hettiecamp, if you look on the tent review section on this site, they may be able to answer your questions.

Hi,

The outside of the tunnel has a two layer dorr, canvas and then a plastic window type door.  On the inside of the tunnel (where it joins the mai tent) is a full canvas door that can be zipped open either half way or completely, but it does not hve the plastic window bit, but does have half way down insect nets.

We have the XL and it is fairly heavy, here are the deatils from outwells website re the L x

http://www.outwell.dk/TentMeasure.aspx?b=Outwell&bid=2&lid=1&l=en-GB&catID=248&TentId=591&pid=1

Hope that helps

Suex

hi sue, thanks very much, it wan't clear from outwells website about the door between the porch/tunnel and main tent- really good to know that that fully zips down.

I saw that they gave the weight of the poles and the tent (canvas) seperatley but then when I looked at their demo of somone erecting the tent it all seemed to come out of one bag. Is this true or do the poles actualy go in a seperate bag? It's just that the combined weight of tent and poles would make that one bag very heavy indeed, not sure if I could even lift it in and out of our car, much less carry it anywhere.....

It all comes in the wheeled trolley but the poles are in their own bag that comes with a strap to put over your shoulder, we keep ours seperately.  I certainly couldn't lift both together x
