Hi All

I have posted this request elsewhere on the forum pages but in the wrong place i think - d'oh!!!

We have just aquired a Cabanon 'Brittany' frame tent. Its about the same size as an Aruba/Athena/Andorra??? we think.

We cant find any info on Cabs web site and even a google search has drawn a blank. We want to know what age it may be and if we could get a sun canopy for it. We were told that its only ever been used once or twice and has been stored since, looking at it i would say its about spot on as there's hardly a mark on it (Near mint condition). We intend to erect it at the weekend to give it a good airing before our inaugural camping trip in June which leads me to the next question - what is weathering? i.e do we need to get the canvas treated with something or does nature (rain) do this. I read something about the cotton fibres swelling up and self sealing the canvas??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Darren n Amber

Congratulations on your new tent. Sorry I don't know anything about the model but if you email Cabanon they are really helpful and will be able to send you details and probably pitching instructions - I've done this a few times with some of the 2nd hand Cabanons I've bought.

Pitch it in your garden and either wait for a good shower of rain or give it a soaing with a hosepipe. You may noyice a fine mist inside to start with - if so, let it dry out & repeat and it should be fully watertight. Bit the chances are it will be completely waterproof anyway. Don't treat it though - it's not necessary.

Enjoy the tent.

Hi Darren'n'Amber & welcome to the forum [:D] Congratulations on your new 'baby'.

As Anne says, just soak it & let it dry thoroughly. As it's been stored for some time the fibres need to be soaked to make them swell out again.

When you pitch it, take a photo & post it on here or in your gallery. There is usually an initial & number hand-written on the groundsheet of the inner tent, take a note of this as it is the model number, which will help if you contact Cabanon.
