Just bought a Vango Icarus 500 with canopy, footprint & carpet and can't wait to use it! Now looking for somewhere to go for a weekend away...who needs a rubbish Travelodge hotel?!

I'm a bit of a camping newbie having only done the odd night here and there but said to hubby I would try it providing we had some 'luxuries'. This is based on our previous attempts being in a very old Eurohike tent that's around 15 years old...although it did hold up to bad weather & gales. Plus it did us good for a cheap night away this year in Cornwall.

So here's to more weekends away...please don't fail us Icarus!

Could you imagine turning up at the same campsite at the sametime...Would be like turning up at a party with same clothes on (Not that that happens much to me being male though!)

We've just bought an Icarus 500 today mainly because of the great reviews it has on here. can't wait to take it for its maiden trip in Cornwall at the end of the month.

Still might get a canopy or extension before we go away. I notice you have a stove in the extension Scotty - How does the plastic window cope with the heat from the stove? I suppose it must be OK or you wouldn't have it there?

Hi,

It seemes absolutely fine. I think the windshield on the stove shields most of it. The only time I noticed anything was when the kettle was boiling and the window steamed up!.

I didn't enjoy trying to cook in drizzle last year!
