Just wondered if anyone has or has seen a Robens Double Horizon tent in the flesh.  It looks a really nice tent and quite compact.  I have done a search on here, but nothing seems to come up.  OH thinks it might be a little dark inside.  It looks almost identical to the Outwell Trout Lake tent.

We used our double horizon for the first time last weekend. It is made by the same company that makes outwell, and has a lot of the same features.  We found it OK to erect, a little heavy, but that is to be expected with a cotton tent and two old codgers like us!  It isn't dark at all, and there is plenty of room in the living area for the two of us.  We really like it!

Thanks for the information - like yourselves there is just Dave and myself these days and we aren't getting any younger either lol - but both of us love camping and this tent has really appealed to us.  I am glad you mention there is plenty of room in the living area.  Does the zip in ground sheet go all the way around i.e. under the inner tent, and is it as thick as the Outwell zip-in grounsheets?

the groundsheet does go all the way round.  I'm not sure if it is as thick as the outwells, but it felt fairly sturdy to us.  The biggest problem we had was bending the poles enough to get the pin in, but we have worked out a way to do that quite easily.  (It was raining at the time of our first pitch, which didn't help)! I camped a lot when I was younger, but my OH only took it up 2 years ago at age 60, to cheer me up after turning 50!  We found this tent met all our requirements for weekend camping.

Sounds a really good tent.  We are both turning 50 this year and were wondering if it would be easier for us to get a folding camper or trailer tent, but after watching a young couple next to us putting their trailer tent up and taking it down again, we have now decided it's not any quicker or any less trouble - athough we have definately decided that it is much more comfortable in a polycotton tent.  On our last holiday we took the Outwell Nevada M due to all the wet weather we had been forecast (we thought we would be able to get it dry quicker if it rained before we took it down).  It turned out that we had quite a mixed week weatherwise - on taking the tent down at the end of the week, we had heavy drizzle all morning so the Nevada still didn't get chance to dry and we ended up having it pitch it again when we got home, just like a polycotton tent.  We both like the Outwell Nevada M for several reasons, but as Dave said we would personally rather have a similar design in polycotton, and either the Robens Horizon or Outwell Trout Lake / Bear Lake 4 seem to fit the bill at the moment.
