Thanks Angie and all for the helpful advice - an interesting challenge I think. I'm going to check out the ESVO's and the Cabanon Guadaloupe like Fi suggested. I shall consider all the options and let you know. The ferry port is temptingly close to where I live.. I like the idea of collecting a tent as a foot passenger - brilliant!
Edna - If you want to collect as a foot passenger then be aware not just of weight but also pack sizes. I wouldnt want to carry either of our pyramids more than a few metres.
Karstens are beautiful tents and the easiest to pitch but the pack sizes are huge so if you want one then bring the car :)
hi edna ,
We bought a great tent from Esvo Tenten in Volendam. Ordered over the internet and payed for by bank transfer. Only difficulty was instructions were in Dutch.

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Edna - I've got a Cabanon Pyramide 4 for sale with optional sun canopy. Good condition and very easy to put up on your own. No need for translators or ferries It's listed in the For Sale ads on this board (23/5). Lovely tent but I've just bought a Relum Canaria 3 and don't have the storage space for them both.

Er....baggage trolley ? Do you actually think I carried the thing in my own arms ?

Yes I did for some reason lol
In my imagination you had the tights and superman shirt too lol
Pics of my beloved Baars (A type of fish I believe), may well appear at some point. I'm certainly a Dutch tent lover and have some pics ,but all were taken in the pouring rain and howling wind, of the last two British summers; perhaps this years trip will provide me with some decent photos. Mind you , the tent was at its best facing into the teeth of a force 8 on the top of the most exposed Atlantic clifftop that north Devon has....(Hartland Point) . Many lesser tents suffered terribly- shredded nylon ,broken poles, soggy occupants, but Ten Cate cotton kept us cosy , and gave me the kind of camping confidence that only Dutch cotton tent owners can have
natureboy - post them please. It's good when you see tents 'in action' iykwim. Nice to see them in lovely sunny weather but rarely do we get to see them performing in the lovely British summer weather.
