Hi!
We have the Vermont XL 2009 model.
Between the middle and LHS bedroom there is are D shaped zips as you say. The divider inside the bedrooms is just a thin piece of material that is not fixed to the floor - it is very easy to get from one room to the other y ducking under this!
The bedroom on the right is self contained in that it is completely zipped from the middle bedroom however it is not a completely separate inner that you can remove from the tent. It is fixed to the middle inner at the floor. We have a kids' room in place of that inner - this is a separate inner that is fixed in place but the original bedroom has to be rolled up and secured between the two rooms. Seemed a bit strange we thought.
However we think that the vermont xl is a fab tent!
Hope you can make sense of all this!

Hello again!
Yes - I think you can make it into one big room. We had the kid's room up so didn't play around with all the zips but I'm pretty sure there was a zip on that shared wall.
That diagram above is definitely misleading. The bedroom on the right is not a completely separate room but has a shared wall with the middle room.
