Hello all - first topic so please be gentle!

I've caught the camping bug this year after the OH suggested a trip to Edale early in May...and despite being very very cold at night (remembered my hot water bottle next time!) really loved the whole experience. Since then i've spent countless hours looking for things that would be good for camping (lovely pot holders in poundland the other day!)

Anyway - on to my question, although i love the little 3 man dome tent we have now, I'd like to be able to put on my clothes without looking (and feeling!) like an upsidedown tortoise

Our budget's not huge - 150 really but possibly up to 200 for perfection. I've been looking at the Outwell Arizona L - having read the reviews and searched the threads, and then watched the pitching video on the outwell site i'm a bit confused - so anyone who owns/has owned one - advice appreciated!

Although it says it's a detachable groundsheet it looks like the sleeping pod groundsheet is attached? Is that right?

and the problems people have reported with a windy back end (!) - are they due to the groundsheet not carrying on high enough up the pod?

As i said - any comments appreciated - also if you know of a better similar tent (only criteria is that i'm not a tortoise all weekend!) then please let me know.

Thanks in advance everyone

i have a outwell georgia l and have used it 3 times,i hated it at first but it is growing on me,they have a bathtub inner tent with a sewn in groundsheet,so you have to put the inner tent up first and then the over tent on last. They are a good make i think although there can be too many gadgets on them

Hi,Popculturegirl and welcome to UKCS forums.

The Arizona has a seperate groundsheet for the living space.
The sleeping inner has its own built in grounsheet, and the inner is removable from the tent.It just clips up to the flysheet.
When you put the tent up the inner is pre attached to the tent, all you have to do then is put the groundsheet down in the living area.
You will get a certain amount of draughts blowing underneath the tent, its nothing to do with the groundsheet not coming higher up the sleeping compartment.
If you want to be draught fre,you need a tent with a SIG(sewn in groundsheet.
Have a look at the OUtwell Carolina 3.

Thanks Sue, I get the difference now - looking at the Carolina i can see the sewn in-ness of it. That really helps - as i can see now our current tent is not sewn in, and we're not too drafty - so i think the Arizona will be good for us 17.

Thanks again!

I've  seen many outwells on many sites and they always look fab, as someone who has a large tent just bear in mind that on a lovely day all tents are great to put up BUT on those days that it is pouring down and windy-which seems to be most of the time- they can be a nightmare. I thought nearly all the outwells had built in ground sheet? Anyway sorry for the babble just have lots of goes at putting it up before you go for away for real as its a bit like driving its confusing until you get the hang of it.
