I've seen the zanzibar 600 in the flesh ,and it is an impressive set up,and at £550 excellent value .Considering the price of the Wolf Lake ,has to be considered. For £640 the 800 ,which I've not seen ,but if it is like the Amazon 800 ,some space!!

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven

Hi Val.

I got to see the  Zanzibar, at Castlecroft Camping Radcliffe last year, as part of the JR Leiusure group they had it on clearance at around £500, it's gone now, and they no longer have any Polycotton's on display, anyway, straight away I noticed that the Polycotton was very good quality, I would guess from the Ten-Cate Solair stable, although much lighter weight than the Outwell Polycotton, no bad thing if you are looking for a smaller pack size, also the SiG or ZiG can't remember, was wafer thin, again helping with pack size, definatley a tent I would have gone for, untill I discovered  a true Cotton Canvas with ZiG Tunnel Tent, pack size huge but worth it!.

Andy.

Saw the 600 last year alongside the Amazon 600 at Frensham. Instant noticeable difference in temperature. Canvas appeared a lot more sturdier than the Amazon flysheet.

We got the Amazon 800 in the end. It's absolutely enormous, and I often wonder whether the 600 would have sufficed!

Well fell in love with the zanzibar but then had to go for a more budget version so looked at the amazon instead. Once we saw it pitched we fell out of love after the polycotton feel of the zanzibar - wasn't a patch on it . Much louder and too flappy!

Hi all

Considering this myself but dilema'd between the 600 and 800, reason being the inners in the 600 are all 140cm wide and not connectable/expandable to make a larger main bedroom so limited to a standard double airbed. whereas the 800 has the larger central inner in which you could probably have a right party.

oncern with the 800 is pack size and weight and ultimately will it be accetable on standard pitches as it is 5.4m wide just outside the 5m standard.

Any views opinions and experiences will be greatly received.

By the way looksey here if ya want an 800 http://www.caseysoutdoorleisure.co.uk/vango-zanzibar-800-2008-53-p.asp

Welcome to the forum!!

I think they are extremely valid alternatives to the Lakes, particularly in terms of value . I don't worry about pitch size as there are many sites who do not penalise supersizers!! And, if you going to have one, might as well have a big one .
