Does it leak? Because that will be the time to reproof it. Maybe. Synthetic tents don't need reproofing because the UV exposure causes them to delaminate after 6 months or so of exposure and reproofing won't prevent that. Cotton canvas tents don't need reproofed untill they start wearing thin (twenty years or so for good quality well cared for canvas) or have been cleaned with soap or detergent products.
Now polycotton tents are a fairly recent development and won't behave exactly like either of the above, but a tent that's only been used for six weeks definately won't need reproofed unless something really horrible has been going on, like you've scrubbed it with Fairy Liquid or the kids have been blowing bubble solution onto it.
