Hi All,

Recently got back from a camping trip and have decided to upgrade the tent.  I initially bought a cheap and cheerful 6 person vis a vis tunnel tent as I wasn't sure if the family would take to camping.  Nothing fancy, so it suffers from a bit of leakage in the rain (nothing horrendous), but it's airflow is truly naff so we suffer from loads of condesation.

I like the look of The North Face Trailhead 6, but am open to suggestion.  My pre-reqs are:

  • Quick to pitch and easy for 1 man to handle
  • Not huge but roomy for 2 adults and 2 under 10 yr old kiddiwinks
  • 2 seperate bedroom areas and a living area
  • Excellent water repellent ability (both rain and condensation)
  • Weight around 12Kgs << pref aluminum poles
  • Budget no more than £400.00

Thoughts / suggestions on a post card :-)

Cheers, Jake

That's the ticket thanks 17 any more suggestions along these lines would be gratefully accepted - I'm hoping to have a few to choose from.  My favourite bit of buying new things is the research.

Second the Robens Triple Dreamer. We're on our third year with ours, probably double figures of trips, and it's been flawless. It's reasonably compact but easily accommodates all five of us. With just four you could leave the third bedroom pod at home and have a extra large living area. Very weather tight. Been through gales, rain, hail etc without any water getting in. Lot's of options for ventilation, loads of doors, and separate groundsheet. No problem at all one person putting it up.

Cheers
Kevin

I like the look of the robens triple dreamer - although the dawn looks even better (but over my budget unfortunately).  Has anyone had a good or bad experience with the Vango Sumatra 600 poly cotton tent?  I've found a stockist that appears to be flogging it at an unbelievabubble price for a poly cotton: http://www.somersetcamping.co.uk/products/vango-sumatra-600-poly-cotton-dome-tent-sage-green/135/?source=froogle&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=comparison_shopping_feeds&utm_nooverride=1

Vango looks great and that is a great deal, bit smaller than the other tents?

And I thought you wanted light weight?

Robens do a ploycotton version of triple dreamer called triple horizon- much more room for weight than Vango, but comes in more expensive and way over your budget I think

Yeah I thought I wanted light weight too.  But that poly cotton tent offer looks almost too good to be true.

I checked the polycotton version of the dreamer and yep, excellent tent but WAY over budget :-)

Oh what to do....
