I am a single mum on a fairly tight budget. Last year I bought a new tent but soon discovered that I could not assemble it on my own as I am not strong enough.
I would like ideally 2 berth and living area, but I berth will do, and a static head of about 1700, the prerequisit being I can put it up myself.
Thank you for any thoughts or advice

The Khyam QE system is a breeze to put up single handed. I managed to put up my Excelsior XL on my own in about 20 minutes (excluding pegging it all out), despite being old, fat and having a very bad back! The Classic sounds like it would suit you to a T. They have a lovely big living area and are well made.
They're a bit dear new (they've changed the name of all the models now, and they come with a sig) but you may be able to find a second hand one.
Tunnel tents are very easy to erect. I am a vertically challenged female and can manage a 3 pole tunnel on my own. Now, with more experience under my belt, I could probably manage a 4 and 5 pole one. It comes with experience as we all improve with practice. It's best if you go and have a look at a tent display. You get a far better 'feel' for a tent if you can see them pitched. It's easy to get a false perspective when just looking at photos on the net. Good luck. There are plenty of tents out there that will be suitable for you, it's all a question of finding the right one for yourself at a price that suits.
