Hi
I have decided to give camping a try and after lurking on here foer a few days I find my self confused.
So For 2 adults 3 boys 14,12,9 and 1 girl 2 what would be my best option.
I have looked at the big family tents but guess we could be restricted on what campsites we could go on so would I be better getting a smaller tent and a 2 man tent for the eldest boys but then I am stuck putting the youngest two together and would I then need two pitches?
I could probably go to £250 maybe £300. Please help and thanks in advance. I know you get asked these types of questions so much but I want to get my purchase right.
Suzie
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
OK on paper I have decided on the khyam ontario 8. Unfortunately local stockist doesn,t seem to stock it!! Found it on line for £229.
Another question. Do I need the footprint? What is its relevance? Sorry for being so thick. I honestly thought get a tent and you were ready for the off!
It will keep the under side of the tent clean ,so only have to clean footprint when packing up,and it marks out the area where to put tent on ,and two layers are better for insulation :)
Or you can just get a cheap blue tarpaulin form b&q and cut or fold it to size, just a bit smaller so that it doesn't stick out from under the bottom of the tent. If its sticking out the rain can run in between the two layers .
Went looking for tents today and brought a colman matrix 6 for £159. Thought it was a bargin and I think it has enough space for us all to give camping a try and if we like it which i am sure we will then a pup tent for the elder two boys. Can't wait to try it out!!
I agree numbersix. It wasn't until I walked into it that I thought ooooh nice and thought about the 9 which was also a good price but this is ex display and and well I am so excited. Just need to get the footprint beds carpet etc and then book a weekend!
Thanks for all your help.
Sadly, no footpint or carpet available for the Matrix 6 . However, the bedrooms are the same size as the Evolva , and I use the Coleman carpet which is slightly oversized at £19.99 from Camping International . If you wish you could get a futher two whichwould be a near perfect fit for the main area , or you could swap around between day and night. As for the footprint , get some green garden tarpaulin from B&Q for around £7 and cut it so it is just undersized for your footprint , so to avoid rain getting underneath.
