Because I'm essentially lazy by nature, is anyone willing to put together some definitive pitching instructions for our lovely Evolvas If they could be set out in a step by step format, that would be fab.

I know there have been at least two pretty comprehensive posts about pitching, with the inevitable slight variations based on personal experience, one of which is was done by our very own Honorary President of the Evolva Society, Phil (numbersix)

Once done I would be happy to copy and paste as a WORD document and e-mail to people (providing you were happy to give me your personal e-mail addys).

Good idea or not?

Could try a stop animation version with Lego and clay, a sort of Wallace and Grommit in "Relax and Don't Get Two Tents". Are you off to see the tents today at MK Sharlene?

My Speilberg moment will have to be on the back burner for at least a week , as I am busy trying to sort out the mess in my children's Scout Group as the new General Executive Chairman . Having said that , would any one object if I tried to do it with knex , as it would show the pole sequencing off . All I would have to do is show how the zips and tension straps work  and that could be done with the link annexe and another annexe.

One aspect that has me stumped, is how to thread the guy ropes on the twin anchors, so that you can properly slide them. They've got me stumped. No matter which way I thread 'em and peg 'm, I cannot get them to tension by sliding. Just have to place the pegs with the ropes under tension and leave them at that.

Any helpful photos, videos, drawings would be welcomed.

I think one rope counter tensions against the other , it is hard to explain , and I have sometimes in a moment of hurry , have just pegged them under tension .Next time I pitch I will photo reference, if only for my own benefit!!

I found if you keep the rope from the highest tag straight through the metal bit to the peg the little metal bit clamps itself to this rope...

it took me all weekend to work this out...(when something bugs me...it bugs me)

hope this helps

Numbersix,

I think you are the Evolva expert - so if it would help, we'll review whatever you've created and might just be able to add a few comments!

I have created a prototype knex Evolva, but it is not quite right, not enough flexible pieces!! My OH thinks I've finally lost it . I daren't mke mash potatoes at the moment as I might start sculpting an Evolva out of it , like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encouters!!

Thanks for the answers on the double guys.

Like Mark, usually, when something like that bugs me, I stick at it until I fathom it out. But when the rest of your friends have pitched and are half way through their BBQ and your still trying to sort out guy ropes, it gets a bit embarrassing.

Now I've got the tent home, I can't be bothered to get it out of the bag just to look at the guy ropes. Suppose I could get the chef annexe out and try to fathom it.

Hi folks

New to this forum, but from the sounds of it, I'm not the only Evolva owner having problems with guys/ runners(bowsies).

I've found that the thickness of the supplied red/black guys are a little too large to run freely through the bowsies.

I have overcome the problem by using a wire peg under the loop of guy that runs through the bowsie, giving the guy a round surface to run over and aiding in the tensioning of the guys.

I am going to replace the guys on our Evolva with dayglo lines so they are easier to see.

Hope this makes sense.

Daz
