Sorry to jump on this post, but I have been looking at Vango tents and notice that a lot have the "tension band system", do these get in the way? I would really like a tunnel tent to replace my Idaho 400 but am a bit worried that the straps would limit the amount of space when moving about or that I might get stuck on them if I have to get up in the middle of the night.
No they're not in the way at all, there are several straps, across the ground etc but the ones you are concerned about are the two sets that come down from the ceiling. Basically you will have two straps that generally come down from where the front of the inner chamber sits and follows the inner chamber to the side of the tent so they are not at all in the way.... no fear of getting caught up in them.
This isn't a great picture but you can just about see what I mean, there are two sets of black straps, on this particular tent there is one at the front and one at the front of the inner chamber.
They are designed to be slightly loose, so they can flex under high winds, the tent will move and wobble all over the place when there are very high winds which is precisely what it is designed to do.... so don't ever tension them so they are taught. Does this make sense? I actually have my small tunnel up in my garden at the moment as I bought the Tigris yesterday and I can take a clearer photo if you wish.
This will give you a bit of speel on Vangos website about the TBS system.
Do hope this helps a little!
Best wishes, Odette
