Hi Tivy and welcome to UKCS.
Should you buy a footprint..........Yes.
Why?........Because it will keep the underneath of your SIG clean and free from mud etc. Then when you get home all you need to do is clean your footprint groundsheet.
Also it will help to protect your SIG(sewn in groundsheet) from little stones etc.
If you don't want to buy the proper Outwell footprint you can buy a cheap tarp from say B&Q.Just make sure it is slightly less than the overall tent size.
If it sticks out you will get rain on it and it will run underneath your tent.

We have just bought one for our Vango Orchy 600.
Reasons being that it keeps the SIG clean and protected from stones etc and also I though it might help us to get the tent erected in the right place on the pitch IYSWIM.
Well worth the money I think.
