Spotted this reduced to £14.69 in my local Tesco last night.

Just wanted something for the odd night camping, nice and small to cart about on my motorbike, possibly fit in panniers.

As a newbie to camping, just wondered what you thought of it.

This Tesco tent? Hmm. HH of 1500 (the minimum) and a crappy bell end that gives no shelter to the sleeping area door. It wouldn't be my first choice, even at half price. Tents of this general design are made by all the major manufacturers, so it's worth looking around.

For a few bob more you could have this...Lichfield Apache 2...which is a real tent with waterproofing etc. Or good for the money and tons of space...Lichfield Apache 3 or even this one, the Apache 3+  (postage free) if you're going to bring a friend?

most supermarket tents are fine for camping in lovely weather. I.E. NO WIND OR RAIN.

We started with a Tesco tent that was fine for the first trip but the following trip we went to ilfracombe and because of a moderate wind it is now in tent heaven. You just dont get the quality, it pays to save up a little more and visit a specalist camping shop to purchase one which covers all your needs. In these shops the staff are more likely to have used the equipement they sell and know what they are talking about.

My dad bought one of these last year and the first time he used it the zip broke! I'd think about spending a bit more and getting something more stable.
