Totally in love with our newly acquired Icarus (especially the simplicity of erecting it and the headroom throughout) but the attached inners have both small tears where they have com away from the seam. This happened on the tents 1st pitch (we bought it 2nd hand) and dont know the best way to sort this. I feel that Vango should sort it as its not "usual wear and tear" and not what I expected quality wise form a Vango. Do you think its occured as the inner was left attached when the tent was erected (although Vango do say this is fine to do)

Advice please folks.

Is that more or less in love than with the Barbados and Pacific? 17

As for the small tears in in the inners, as this is a s/h tent I can't see that you would have much recourse to Vango as you can't honestly know how they occurred, unfortunately.

I don't think many rights as a consumer transfer over to a second buyer in the case of a tent, sorry. So even if it was a blindingly obvious manufactiring fault, the fact that you were not the original purchaser will probably mean they won't deal with you. The person you should be complaining to is the person you bought it from, if they were not clear about any damage.

As to the tears, tunnel tents like this can place a lot of stress on the toggle points and zips of the inners. Fibreglass poles have a tendency to "barrel" that is, spread out half way up the sides...if they're tensioned down too hard or the poles are not all fully seated in the ferrules when assembled. If you're really struggling to toggle in the inners at 3 and 9 o-'clock, that's a sign of this. Try shifting the poles a little. If it's really tight, leave a couple of toggles off rather than damage the inners. One thing that also helps is to always toggle a row in the same direction. I find it's best to thread the rear row from your side ie insert the toggle from front to back, and on the front row do it the opposite way ie thread the toggle through the ring towards you. It saves twisting the toggle loops and warping the toggle seam...only gets you an extra cm or two across the front but sometimes that's all you need. Sounds like the previous owners may have just used a bit too much brute force when hanging the inners. You're lucky it wasn't the zips that went.

Merry, yes I do love this tent. It makes a quick weekend away less stressful and we even managed to get tent/canopy/carpet and footprint in the car and all our kit without using the roofbox and the car straining at the seams. LOL.

Another big plus was no condensation at all in either bedroom or the tent at all which we've never had with a polyester tent.

Thanks for the advice Valk Scot, the inners were already attached and there wasnt any strain at any point, both zips zipped up and down easily.

No roofbox or trailer? Then that would make a weekend trip so much quicker, easier and less stressful. Excellent.

Just recently bought this tent, used it twice. First time we used it one of the poles split, second time sun canopy blew off and and landed on the camp cooker oops!! Poles not under guarantee but bought a couple of spares £2.75 each it was quite easy to replace. As for the porch, had to do a bit of patching (as you do). The tent is great though lovely and comfy with the carpet, and love the huge sun canopy we bought for it. There are gaps at the sides of the canopy as there was on the display tent where we bought it. We had rain but the gaps were no problem.

Happy camping17

I never put it up with the inner attached. I always attach the inner after. This puts much less strain on the poles.
