Hello, I'm a message forum virgin, so be gentle !!17

I am thinking of buying an outwell indianna 4 (already have indianna 8) but it needs repairing, any advice on what to use and how reliable a repaired tent would be, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Alison........

hi Alison and welcome, what is it that needs repairing exactly.

If its tear or hole in the flysheet you could use tenacious tape , very good for repairs , clear and almost invisible. I used it to repair small holes in the roof of my tent and it has not let a drop of water in , and was used all last year .
if its a torn seam on a stress point though it would need machine stitching and seam sealant applying over the stitching.

Thanks Debbie,

I will have another look at the pic I think it was just the fly sheet. Thanks for the advice though much appreciated.

Unless you are buying the tent from someone you know, I would be suspicious.

If only needs a relatively simple repair then I would have expected the seller to carry this out in order to get a better price for the tent.  The fact that the seller has not repaired it may mean that it is difficult or even impossible to repair.

this looks like a substantial tear , it says 10cm, but looks like it would be longer (the tear thats going across the top looks like part of it is being held together with tape inside . Its also on a seam and with a clip to attach to the pole . if you do decide to buy and repair, remember its going to be under a fair amount of stress and might tear again , as the guyline point is also directly below the rip. Personally I wouldn't risk it , unless you can machine stitch it and place a large reinforcing patch under the whole area . Then seam seal over all the stitching. The fact that its alongside the seam would put me off doing this , the whole seam will be weakened and the clip for the pole will be tugging at it all the time .

Looks like it will be more trouble than its worth . You have to move the clip also to avoid additional stress on the repair  ,or add an additional one that side . Obviously if its next to nothing ,then it might be worth a punt . You could always put the poles on ebay .

Be seeing you!!

Depends how much they want for it. If it was £25 or so then yes, take it, but if they're asking  any more than 25% of the current new price it's not worth it.

Thank you all for your great advice, I dont think I gonna bother, will keep looking though. I love my outwell but was thinking of something quicker for short weekend trips.
