Hi,

Looking for some advice on the right tent for us. I have been looking around at various tents (there are 2 adults and 3 kids) and have been drawn to Outwells based on what i have seen and other people's advice.

The problem is we want a nice tent with plenty of room (i forgot to say we would be taking the dog as well !) that we would use for a weeks holiday, but we also want something that would be suited to weekends away. Alot of people seem to say that the bigger tents are alot of hassle to put up just for a weekend.

Is there anyone out there that has a nice big tent, and goes away for weekends ?

Any advice would be great.

The Hartfords are lovely tents and many people on here recommend them but you need to watch the footprint size, especially if you want an EHU (electric hook up)pitch.
Anything over 5m wide can cause problems on some sites and some places will refuse to accept a booking from you, so that is something to bear in mind when looking for a new tent.

I would recommend the Khyam Ontario 8 which is what we have (2 adults, 3 kids aged 15, 7 and 3 and a loopy dog)
It is very easy to put up, fits on a standard pitch (tent measures 7.5m x 3.7m)standing height (225cm), will accommodate 8 x 75cm wide air beds so is a genuine 8 berth tent, SIG (sewn in groundsheet which helps to keep bugs out and wayward toddlers in!!), very large living area (over 3m x 3m with all the bedroom pods in place)

You can buy a carpet and sun porch too which turns it into a real home from home.

Thanks for all the info, i will have a look at the Kalahari and the Ontario 8. I would like to say that we would not require an electric hook up, but i know what the kids are like !! and i was a little concerned about the size of the Hartford XL.

Well I have had a look at the two tents and i must say that i am taken with the Khyam Ontario 8. Looks like it has everything we need at a good price.

Thanks for info for Go Outdoors numbersix, but unfortunatly they don't do the Khyam and the Kalahari is more expensive - must have been a price increase !
