We are new to camping and have bought and Easycamp Taranto 500 tent and erected it in the back garden yesterday. The instructions weren't too clear (not to us novices anyway) and it took us 40 minutes! When I tried to find more info on erecting this tent on the internet I found a review from a 12 year old who can get this tent up on her own in 10 minutes !!! We dont have a 12 year old to take with us, so any help would be grateful. Thank goodness we tried in the garden, and not on a camp site in view of everyone giving away the fact we are novices !!!

I don't know this tent personally but it looks like a basic tunnel. What I would do is thread all the poles through their sleeves, then pop the pins into the poles at one side, then do the other side bending the poles into shape as you go. Peg and guy and Bob's your uncle.

Welcome to the forum and happy camping!

I do have this tent and also a 12 year old!

I'm not sure that my particular 12 year old would be able to put the thing up by himself in 10 minutes.. (I guess I should let him try)... but between us we usually manage it fairly quickly.

As far as I remember I pretty much ignored the accompanying instructions and just pitch using a basic 'tunnel tent technique'. We put the poles in as described by matshan, then gather the hoops together in a pile, stand them up, guy out the back one then walk forward with the remaining hoops. (Sorry, this has been described much better in other posts). The first time I nearly didn't spot the tension straps which are on one side only and which obviously need to be completely loosened off before attempting to put the pins into the poles.

Hope you enjoy your first camp.

Thanks so much, we'll have another dummy run tomorrow before we "go public". Will report back.
