After much deliberation and many hours on the internet reading reviews and checking prices, we have finally bought our first tent, an outwell hartford xxl . We ordered it from World of Tents on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesdsay morning, we are sooooo excited, can't wait till the weekend so that we can put it up. Will be going away for our first weekend camping trip on 6th August and can't wait. has anyone else got one? any tips on putting it up and taking it down ( and getting it back in the bag ) greatly appreciated!

General tip for putting in the bag. Take pictures of how it was folded at every stage as you unfold the tent so you have a reference until you get used to it . Watch the pitching video until you see it your dreams!
We have one, though an older model.Fold the pods in first, then fold to the middle, getting the sides straight, you should end up with a long rectangle.Fold tightly from one end,i kneel on it as i fold to get air out, should go Good luck and practice makes perfect!
But we found a footprint is realy helpfull with pitching. With the footprint you can test if the pitch is big enough for your tent and turning the footprint in another direction is way more easy than the complete tent .
taking down is like Kazzy25 said. Don't worry about not getting the tent back in the bag , the bag is big enough and will almost always fit.

Thanks for the advice, have got a footprint so like you say soundstorm that should help, I was concerned about getting the air out, hopefully we will manage, will get the kids to help outbut if anyone sees a tent flying through the air over Wales in August, think of us!
Taking pictures as we pitch the tent is areally good peice of advice, thanks numbersix.
hi i have the 2009 model and as stated above the footprint is very cool in helping with the layout and keeping the groundsheet clean i would advise a carpet to it really made mine so much more cosy inside i also have the canopy which just adds so much more space its unreal on the tent review i have uploaded my pics if you wanted to see i would offer the same advise as above in putting up or taking down with just one extra point take a soft broom and use it when lifting the tent from inside i found this the easiest way to do it im 6ft3 myself and found i wasnt quite tall enough plus its heavy but tried the broom method and it was so much easier
its a great tent i love mine and hope you have a great time enjoying yours
