I am thinking of gettign one of these - would i (30 (ish) yr old tenting experienced lady) and a 6 yr old daughter be able to put one of these up alone - would it be too big for 2 of us ? ALso now ive almost decided on it i really want it in smoke/ black and not the blue or green it seemes to come everywhere else...... Has anyone found anywhere that has em in stock this colour?

It's only a 3 pole tunnel tent...You should manage it with ease. I too have been looking at them...cheap as chips.

I have one and can put it up on my own and I'm only 5'1". It's easy enough and the bedrooms are sewn in so it's pitch as one. It comes down easy nough but I struggled and struggled to get it back into its bag. My sister is a dab hand at this and she will have no problem whereas I cannot. I'm hopeless. The Albany 400 I can do with no probs which is why I tend to take that when I go on my own. The Icarus is much roomier and lighter though and all the same height. The only minus is getting it back. Some folk have no problem with this aspect of camping but I do seem to, maybe I haven't enough patience, I don't know. It's a great tent and as I say, easy to erect solo.

Hi Mishy, I've put one up with my 8 year old daughter twice now but could also put it up by myself if necessary. I agree with Mantrachant, I also struggled to get it back in the bag but having read recent threads, I am sure with practice I'll be able to do it!

Hey Nicola we are going to be giving advice after this summer on how to get the thing back in its bag. What a nightmare I was ready to kick it and the heat doesn't help!

Hi Mantrachant, I have literally just put the 500's sun canopy back in it's bag after it's first use (been putting it off for 2 weeks, it came back from camping wet and I keep ignoring it). Hubby stood there and watched and said "you'll never get that back in" - but success. Just waiting for a dry day to attempt the tent!

Well done you on sorting out the canopy. I have a large Vango canopy but not taking it as I think we have now run out of room. When I go to Yedmandale in August, I may try it out then as it fits the Albany too. As I said previously, I think a lot of it is to do with a certain kind of patience which I don't seem to possess but which OH and sister do.

None of my 4 tents are in their original bags...why struggle when you can get a more practical bag for just a few quid from Mr Patel on your local market ?
