I did the whw way a couple weeks using a vango banshee 200 ,good for me and my large rucksack ,weighs 2kg and
you should get one for about £65,i would highly recommend it
OK. In which case the previous poster's reccomendation for a Vango Banshee sounds like a good one. Might be worth looking at a Vango Shadow or Spirit as well.
------------- Tackling life the Western District way
Have seen both Vango Banshee's and Vango Force 10 Heliums, both look like good tents.
I'm looking for a slightly larger than my Terra Nova for my H. He want it for cycling and wants a bit more room than me. The Vango Shadow 200 looks like it has good sitting head room.
Both the Touring and Mountain tents, they don't have bad prices, but I don't know how the do in reviews. The single hoop and dome touring ones have a better HH than some other similar priced Gelert tents. The mountan range have a HH of 4000. The 4000 Mountain tent is another one on my suitable for DH list ;)
I know that I'll get a lot of stick for this, but; I've been training since last September for a week long hiking trip along the South West Coastal path in a couple of weeks time. I decided to buy a small, light hiking tent, but because I couldn't decide what to buy, I went for a simple Pro Action Hike Lite One Man Tent from Argos:
I had intended replacing it, but everything I looked at that did what I wanted came out at over £300. Meanwhile, this little beauty at 2.2Kg rolls up very small and perches on top of my rucksack. I've used ever since and in -3C and heavy rain without problems. Its surprisingly roomy, allowing me (I'm 6' 2" and 14st) plus my Lowe Alpine 90+20 rucksack to lay side-by-side - with room to spare beyond my head. Nice to be able to keep your trangia and fuel ready to go for a cuppa!
The only downside to this tent is the very small porch, but other than that I consider it a bargain - I got mine at £25!
