until you mentioned you wanted a SIG or ZIG then it sounded like a retro canvas frame tent might have been a good choice.
With the left over cash you could always then buy
5m Bell tent, nice and tall but makes a better weekend tent for a family as long as you dont mind the communal sleeping / living area.

I would not bother if it's Outwell your buying, you can pay over 1k and still have issues like many poor members have on here. There quality has declined dramaticly of late. I fancy a Bear Lake as a second tent, greedy I know but there's no way I'm parting with any cash until they sort these issues.
Just buy a standard model and save your cash.............no flames please.
:( I just got a bear lake, it's sitting here next to me in 2 massive boxes.... hope we don't find any probs with this one cos I'm sick of taking tents back!
I just ordered the Halo 73 from Go Outdoors. I have a "camping expert" mate who works in Loughborough who just went and visited the Go Outdoors store in his lunchbreak. He's a "premium brand" man in everything he buys but doesn't like paying over the odds for things if he can avoid it. He's been recommending I look at a higher-end model than the Vango Orchy I originally looked at and was suggesting a Montana as a possibility.
However, having just looked at the Halo 73, he says it is an absolute gem and he wishes he hadn't just bought the Hartford XL he got last year as he'd much rather have the Halo. I know it's just one person's opinion, but I trust his judgment on camping gear implicitly so his recommendation is good enough for me and the Wild Country Halo 73 it is...
Will report on it once I get my mitts on it!

I brought a Wild Country tent last weekend, we saw ours pitched and it was the quality that got me - and I know nothing about tents!
The groundsheet is super duper thick and although there are websites selling the footprint for my tent, I am just going to get some tarp. instead to keep the bottom of my tent clean.
I joined here to ask about Wild Country tents as I had never heard of them and now I am glad I purchased mine as they seem to be a good make.
I am hoping (but quite sure) you will be pleased with your tent.

I really hope you don't and i'm sure you won't but please check it before you leave and check with other proud bear owners if they soaked it before the holiday. Nothing worse than getting to your destination and disaster, holiday should be a holiday not a gamble............... you will be fine. Nice outfit, it just makes me mad when I read about hard working people who spend a small fortune expecting the best and let down by poor quality control.. ggggrrrrrrr

Thanks HH. I'm gonna put it up tonight to check for any major issues but won't have chance to weather it before we go... we're not going far and the weather forecast looks dreadful so I think this trip can be considered as the weathering of our tent!
I agree about it being bad that people save up for an expensive tent and are let down by shoddy quality control... its very annoying.
Must say the Wild Country tents look really excellent - maybe we'll buy one as a weekender... afterall you can never have too many tents!
You sure cant and please don't feel I'm being negative against the outwell brand, I had a vermont that stood up to some horrific wether on shell island when most where collapsing around are ears. I just don't expect it from them.........I get very green and angry.
Enjoy your new purchase, you have one the best on the market.
