Hi fellow campers

I posted a few days ago, as we were due to buy the hi gear kalahari 10 from go outdoors! Well, after a good hour walking from this tent, then to the outwell georgia L, we decided to go with the outwell, and am pleased as punch with our decision.

Anyhoo, anybody out there that already has the outwell georgia L, is it as good as it looks, and will this be ample for us (me, hubby, 2 girls age 10 & 11 and one fussy jack russell!!!! Would you recommend we buy the footprint aswell, and how do you find it to pitch??

Any comments would be very much appreciated,

We have the Georgia XL, which is a large tent and it takes OH and I about 45 mins to pitch. The living area on the XL is great and I (from memory) think that the Georgia L is a good size too.

You will be very pleased with the tent. The quality is there and it performs well in very poor weather. The inner gives you a cosy comfort level that you do not get with single skin tents.

Pitching is quite straight foward. Make sure that the inner is in position properly before putting the flysheet on. The fly has little velcro loops on the underside, that attach to the flexi-poles... we missed these on first pitch!! These keep the fly where it should be17

We have the footprint, but it isn't that necessary. I like it for the fact that you can use it as a marker for pitching your inner and that it protects your SIG from mud and stone damage, but it can trap water between SIG and Footprint.

Good luck with your tent.

Jo

Ohhh gosh that's a big footprint! I make that nearly 10 metres wide with guy ropes, is that right? Clicky

Have you checked out with the sites that you're hoping to go to that they'll take you?

Pitching wise the easiest way to pitch a dome is to put someone inside of it to lift the poles at the appropriate moment, it avoids stress on the poles.

Hi Gingerach, we have a Georgia XL and absolutely love it. You mentioned your concern with pitches. We go to Haven sites more than any other as they do cheap deals and the kids love the entertainment (Bradley Bear, Roary the TIger, Anxious the Elephant and loads more characters which they now my kids will want to buy!)
We have never had a problem pitching our tent on there sites. Just mention the size when you book. You will have to give them a call as it measures more than 21ft.
We have EHU so usually pay for an XL pitch but that has so far only worked out bout £10-£15 more expensive for the week.
Without an EHU I don't think you'll have much of a problem.

Have fun camping!

I'm new to this camping lark - all help and advice, no matter how obvious it may seem, is greatly appreciated!

Easter - Golden Sands, Mablethorpe
