Can anyone recommend a small, simple, inexpensive (under £100) tent to sleep 2 adults and two children? This wouldn't be our main tent - just a 'fair weather tent' that means we can stay out all night if we want to!

I'm considering the Vango Alpha 400. Anything else I should look at? I'm really looking for a big sleeping pod with just a little storage but no living area. (We will use two regualar Airic self-inflating mats, and two Wee Airics for the kids).

many thanks

A Vango Tepee 500.
Simply to pitch, simply to strike,
space for sleeping and good head height.

might cost more than £100 though.

Would love to hear from anyone who actually has one of these. I was originally tempted by the polycotton one - 'Peace' version?

Am a bit worried about unforeseen night-time rain or winds though.

Spudz - you have a 'proper' pyramid tent - you lucky thing!

What about this for 99 quid you are getting more than you've asked for, but its a small bag, so would sit in the boot no problem. Im seriously considering one of these as our weekender.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

The 800 version of the tepee is only £85 here

I'm after a quick (cheap) tent for weekends too...

I'm considering the 4 man pop up from decathlon, but think it's a little more than you want to spend at £149. Here

Me too. My friend has one and I think it's a great tent for the money.

The Vango Venture does indeed look like a good weekend tent. However, I think I'd better make sure that anything I buy is at least half the weight, packsize and price of our Outwell Iowa (which is fine for normal weekend camping), otherwise my husband will be asking questions!   The Vango Alpha is less than 5 kilos - and almost worryingly cheap. Will it work?? (Iowa is about 17kg if I remember correctly). Are those Gelert pop-ups any good?

To any parents: I'm looking for the tent equivalent of the Maclaren Volo (for 4 people).

Oooh... this could be perfect Karakum. What are my chances of ever getting it back in the bag though?

Thanks All. The Gelert Tornado has grown on me - think I'll go with the non-DLX version as its much lighter (and cheaper).
