Hi,

We have just bought an outwell idaho 6 and tried it out once in the back garden to see what it is like (GREAT!).  however, how on earth do you get all the air out and pack it back into the bag without rolling around on it for an hour!

cheers.

Make sure when you are rolling it up you work towards the door or you will struggle to the air out of it.
When we fold away our SunValley 6,we fold it until its just wide enough to go in the bag, then I start rolling it up and OH is just in front squashing out the air as we go along.
It takes us about 10 minutes from start to finish

Last time we went out with our SV6, I tried a new approach to the somewhat undignified sport of Wife Rolling that we have become accustomed to...

The tent was folded in half and in half again as normal (keeping the edges as close to the ground as possible so as not to trap more air) so we were left with a square about 5' or 6' on each side.

We rolled this big square up slowly to get the air out and then carefully unrolled it.  We then did the two final folds and rolled it up - hardly any air left and no roly poly wife!  Shame, really.

How to get a tent back in its bag....

Work up a sweat folding and rolling

Curse when it is larger than its bag

Unroll

Roll again with the might of Samson

Curse louder when it still wont fit in the bag

Unroll

Open a beer and scratch head whilst deliberating how to get said tent in bag

Unfold and roll the other way

Curse as it is even larger than the first time it was rolled

Remove kids, dog, crocs etc from inside the tent and refold

Roll again getting a very large person/animal to sit on it as you roll

Repeat until eventually it fits

Promise yourself that you WILL remember how you got it in.

Be chuffed with yourself

Try to remember how you got it in.

Curse yourself for forgetting

Set yourself a timelimit for packing tent away next time

Same as Sue

Just make sure you leave all the doors unzipped so that the trapped air has somewhere to escape when folding and rolling.

I either use a couple of children to roll or the air out or I roll on it as I roll it

How we do it is ...we fold in half first(length ways)We keep all the ring and pins to the outside edge.
Then the half you have left folds into 3 which is just wide enough to go into the trolly bag.
As Keely has stated, leave the doors unzipped to get the air out.
Then as my instructions above,it always goes in the bag and we can get the footprint, porch grounsheet and doormat in as well.

We tried Sue's method and worked well.  thanks.  We still a bit of rolling around like a couple of muppets, but good fun!

Although I do like Angie's method!

cheers.

I also had a 'mare the first couple of times I tried - took me 40 minutes each time!!

However, I have now sorted it - takes 10 minutes and goes in the bag and the bag can be zipped up 17

Basically,

1. Start facing the main door/porch, fold each end into the middle.

2. Repeat step 1 (can't remember if you have to do this again - if still looks too wide, do it again).

2. Then fold the 2 halves on top of each other.

3. Fold in half again (I think - do this if it is still wider than the bag).

4. Roll from the front door/porch towards the back door (make sure you have left the back door open a little at the bottom).

That's it - works amazingly well...honest.
