Hi, im looking for some advice. We went camping last weekend to the lakes with our vango idaho 500 for the 3rd time and ended up having to leave at 6am the next morning having had torrential rain throughout the night wakening to a massive swimming pool not only in the living area but also in the sleeping compartment!!!  My son and aunt slept in a cheap 3 man tent from tesco and were as snug as a bug in a rug!  How can this be??????

Anyway we are now looking for a bigger more reliable tent with possibly 3 sleeping compartments only im so confussed by all the reviews and cant make a decision, and im quite dubious about purchasing another vango tent which i thought were one of the best makes???

I hope uz can help.

Many thanks x

I would recommend the Montana 6 (Outwell) - it is a really great family tent!  Have a look at the review on here.

If you find a good price (e.g. here) and then go or log on to Go Outdoors they will beat the price by 10%.

Thanks for advice.  Now looking at the coleman weathermaster xl, anyone recommend?  Being doing a lot of research and came to find that the outwell monty 6 does not have a zip along the bottom of entrance, my previous vango tent had this also and it seemed to let in lots of rain!!! Plus the outwell is way more expensive than most.

Yes the Monty is expensive, but it is a very good tent. I wouldn't worry too much about its front door not having a zip alon the bottom. One change on this year's model is that the bottom of the door has been lengthened so that it has a much greater overlap with the raised part of the SIG. That combined with the fact that there is an inner mesh door that zips all the way round means that you will not have any of the problems with rain that you had with the Vango.

The Coleman is a good tent made with good materials and has several neat design features; though make sure it's this year's grey and not previous years' green model. However, I think that it is let down by not having an available extension which I believe are great in the rain as you can leave doors to the tent open without getting the inside wet. Those little canopies over the side doors and merely having that front door raised on poles to form a canopy will not work either.

Yeh I did notice that the Coleman did not have a canopy which is a shame!

The vango is one year old and only been used three times! The rain was wild but the other tent held up! Vango said to return it and they will repair it but I have pay postage which will be a fortune! So all in all thought I would just go for a bigger and better tent but has left me dubious about purchasing another vango tent!!!

A few years i had to send a tent back i took it to the dealers shop and he got it sorted for me that was with vango and everything was sorted no problem. Best of luck anyway with whatever you decide to do.
