Hi,

Having recently purchased a Maryland XL and despite spending hours making adjustments here and there, I am unable to prevent what I would describe as over tensioning of the groundsheet and tent material.

The two corners in the main living area by the porch doorway are very tight and risk tearing. The tent material in these area's is also very tight even before any adjustment is made on the straps.

Are there any other Maryland owners experiencing the same problem or have I fallen for a factory second ??

Not with a Maryland but with our Michigan we have. Thinking it might have been the uneven pitch and that it was first time out and we pitched quickly in the rain. Hopefully next time out it will be different.
Saying that the back of the Hartford sat very high and tight too.
no problems with the Sun Valley.

That's what I'd pinned my hopes on after the first time out.

The second time out the pitch was perfecly flat and I even took the bedrooms out so that I had a clear view throughout. Spent about 3 hours trying various adjustments, moving poles etc, but made no difference

hi,we have the xxl and did a practice pitch. We found the same on the one side more than the other. We came to the conclusion that it was higher on the side that had the dome pole on top,if you get my meaning. It has been noticed on alot of the Marylands,so it may be a design flaw.We are going to make sure that the lower pole will be on the side with the porch door and hope that the pressure there will be less as thats going to be the main thoroughfare.

I have the same problem, this is a huge problem as the sig could easily rip.
Who can we get in touch with at Outwell if every one emails them and complains thye may respond. Me thinks this tent needs recalling.

yup, have had this problem on both my marylands now. so thinking its a design thing! everyone on here with the maryland has had the same thing. also think that they couldve rethought the door set up! when it is warm and raining (typical british summer!) you cant have the door open and venting the place without getting a wet carpet!

must be a way that they couldve put  a canopy over hte back and front doors!

Judging by the number of comments on this subject it certainly looks like like Outwell has either a design or batch issue with the Maryland. Its a bit concerning that their quality control has not picked up on this - particularly as, taking a quote from their website "the NEW AvantGarde Collection, The flagship of Outwell expertise and sophistication".

This is also my second Maryland as the original never even got to the pitching stage. I collected the original in person and all boxes were sealed and in a good condition. When we removed the tent from the bagand started to open it out we noticed the words:"damaged" and a big chalked arrow pointing to several small holes. The dealer was very apologetic and exchanged the tent imeadeately. It was clear that the tent had been released from the factory in this condition.

Looking at the Q&A page on their website:                    http://www.outwell.dk/ContactUS.aspx?b=Outwell&bid=2&lid=1&l=en-GB      Outwells own advice is to return the tent to the dealer. Because Outwell does not offer any means of customer feedback, this appears to be the only option for all those of us unfortunate enough to have poor fitting Marylands.
