Hi, Wondering if anyone out there can identify the model of my tent for me. It's a Wild Country, sleeps 2, and cost about £150 ten years ago. Yellow inner, with black trimming. Three collapsable poles: two longer ones that form a dome, and one shorter one that goes round the entrance. The outer is a deep pink colour. The most distinguishing feature is that the door is on the long axis, which I've really grown to appreciate - two people can sit in the entrance and cook or whatever, and great for going to sleep to a panoramic view. I've long forgotten the model, and can't find anything similar being made by Wild Country or Terra Nova.
While you're there, does anyone know of any other makes/models that have the entrance on the long axis? It seems to be a rare feature.
Thanks most kindly,
Stu

Hi Stu, I too have a Wild Country tent, and I have emailed them a couple of times with slightly silly questions, they have been very helpful, even at one point checking their archive of previous tent instructions to see if I had the wrong set on instructions! Why don't you contact them with your description of your tent? I am sure they'll be able to name it for you.

Can't help you with your Wild Country tent, sorry, but I too have an old, lightweight tent, Salewa Sierra Micra, that has the entrance on the long axis. Love it.
And like you, I can find no information on-line regarding my old Salewa.
Closest tent I can find now on the Salewa web site is this .. but it's not even close to the colour of my old Sierra Micra.

Thanks all for the comments. Walkers67 - you're not wrong, Wild Country were very helpful. Turns out it's a Wild Country Mistral. A great shame they don't make them any more.
I can't help thinking that the other models mentioned here don't make the most of the side-door lay-out. A big advantage of an entrance on the long axis is the opportunity for a big porch, like the Mistral's, but these ones are tiny. Still nice to have the wide view and the room for two seating though.

...okay , eight years later....

I have the Salewa Micra. Great one man tent, and having the entrance on the long side is a must I think. I is better in many ways. A few models have this feature, like the Coleman Celsius Compact, and also Highlander made a model Forces 2 I think, that is very similar. Great concept, but for some reason not that common. The small Coleman Viper also had a side entrance, also a great little tent , easy to get in and out. If someone knows of other freestanding side entrance models..
