I am new to camping and have been trying to decide what to buy for ages. I have narrowed it down to the Coleman Evolva or the Outwell Dakota 8.
Thanks to the lovely people on the Evolva Society thread i have found out a wealth of information about the Evolva but I am struggling to find any info on the Dakota 8.
There is only 1 review on the tent review page and whilst this is positive I would love to find out more about it if anyone has any views.
Is the lack of information a sign that it is not a popular/good tent or is it simply that they haven't sold well?
Thanks in advance

I know it's not an 8 but I have a Dakota 6 and I cannot sing it's praises high enough. Unfortunately, even now there does seem to be little information on the Dakota's and because of this I think people have been very wary. Also because they are a 2009 line people are only just buying and trying them out. They are pretty much an upgrade of the Utah, the main differences being the SIG, colour and possibly the price. You may want to look at other reviews of the Utah to give you an idea. I can only tell you that I've been in my tent in all weathers now and have had no problems. It's straightforward to put up/take down and there is such a great living area. It really is very spacious. It was particularly lovely sitting in my tent, with the rain pouring down, the "curtains" down so I could see outside, drinking a glass of wine and reading a book. Home from home. Lovely. Good luck in whatever you choose and happy camping.
I think the only real difference between the Dakota and Utah is a sig, the colour and approx £175. We bought the Utah 6 having viewed the Dakota, deciding to plump for a bathtub groundsheet and spend the money we had saved on the other equipment that we needed. We bought it without having seen the Evolva - but after getting chance to see one two weeks ago, we decided that we had definately bought the tent that would suite us better as a family.
If you get chance, view them all, and then make your decision based on your own families' needs.
