im def with you g4fne we too went from tent to van(after lots of wet weekends away) then last year back to tent, which our caravanning friends really dont understand and prob think it comes down to Oh not wanting to spend money on another van but its not!!
We love the freedom of not towing, you can be impulsive and go off route theres no longer the need to go direct to the site to pitch the van first if somewhere takes our fancy. Same coming home.
In the van a tv was a must have and yes i found myself switching it on in an evening, but not any more.
Back to the tent with no ehu, wardrobes or cupboards and where did all those inflatable sofas come from ha ha, so we have 2kids and our springer sat in the back and all the camping stuff goes in the boot, if it doesnt fit it doesnt go, no more towing for us not even a roofbox, all in a passat with the a bike rack attached to the redundant towbar.
Must admit i do miss the van in really bad weather and havin built in cupboards to keep things tidy but thats it.
I feel free once again to feel the wet grass in the mornin whilst drinkin that first cup of tea in the fresh air as Oh cooks the bacon(oh that smell) and imho more choice of fab sites where the views make life worth living..
