Hi friends!
On trying to erect our Monty-6 for the first time last weekend we first tried to erect it by way of the Yeoman's video (Rear Pole then front pole and then erect middle poles) but it proved very difficult and a painful struggle. Then a friendly neighbouring camper, who saw our struggles, came and helped. He used the original 'Outwell video instruction', method by erecting front poles and then moving towards the back. This worked but still proving a hefty task. I have a serious back problem and have a spinal implant thus it was a bit of a painful experience. I do expect some pain from erecting any tent.
We did notice that when trying the Yeoman method (Rear pole followed by the front pole and then erect middle poles), we had put in the roof poles when raising the front and then rear. However on revisiting the video I noticed the Yeoman's guy didn't fit the middle roof poles until the front and rear were raised. This should then make it much lighter when erecting front and rear.
We are off again next week and would love your experience through your thoughts or advice on the best way to erect this wonderful tent. We have also now purchased the front extension and any tips for erecting this would also be gratefully received.
It really causes me a lot of pain when it is so heavy. Before buying th Monty-6 we had the 'quick erect' tent, Khyam Excelsior, which was a doddle to set up and indeed a very fine tent but nowhere near as good as the wonderful Monty-6.
Any advice or tips would really help and genuinely ease the pain.
Many thanks,
Joe
