Not sure what you really want to know but the guy ropes are the ropes that hold your tent securely to the ground. They need to be pegged out at roughly a 45degree angle to the tent and not too tightly as your tent needs to flex a little in the wind. Lots of folks on here (myself included!) swear by Delta pegs to hold the guy ropes in place throughout the worst weather and if you mention UKCS when you buy you'll get a 10% discount Delta Pegs

Hope this helped in a small way

No problem In that case I hope I helped. Don't worry too much if they're already attached to the tent, you don't need to actually 'knot' them round the peg, they just loop under it. As I said, sensibly tight but not so that they are putting pressure on the poles, the poles need to flex in the wind a little. It'll all seem much clearer when you're actually pegging them out. Lastly, don't forget to check them daily, make sure they haven't loosened or anything.

Hi Jevsie, it's pretty much how Loreleilee said. I'm not sure on your particular tent, but most guys have one fixing point on the tent, and a big loop adjustable with a plastic runner. Some have 2 fixing points in places, but generally speaking you end up with a big loop, and a runner to make the whole thing adjust in overall length.

The idea is to get the guy far enough away from the tent to give it a 45 degree angle to the ground, and the peg into the ground at 45 degrees. This gives the best staying power. Hook the loop over the peg, then, using the runner, take the slack out of the loop until you have a firm tension. Too much tension will pull the tent out of shape, too little and it's doing nothing. I guess the best way to describe it as a gentle twang if you pluck the guyrope. Once you've done it a couple of times, it will all make sense 17

Good luck and happy camping with your new tent by the way 17
