Going round in circles here looking at tents and was hoping someone could give me a few suggestions!

We go camping to Cornwall for a week on Saturday and have no tent since our old one was wrecked last week in Wales... Really not the best time to be buying a tent as no doubt they will all come down in price / appear on Ebay in the next month or so.

So we are thinking maybe we should hold out for our "big" tent and just get something which will do us for next week, and then to be used for festivals / weekends etc next year. If I could pitch it alone / with help from tallish 6y old DD that would be a bonus, as plan on doing a few midweek trips with friend and her DD when partners are at work.

Been put off small tents as we seem to have so much stuff but have decided to buy utility tent so all kitchen bits out of the way. Would still like a decent living area so we can eat inside in the (very likely) event of bad weather.

Not keen on dark tents - hence being drawn to the Outwells - I like a lot of natural light! Not seen many Khyams in the flesh but they look a bit dark on pics?

Bedrooms - would like min 2 or one with divider. One needs to fit 2 x junior Readybeds, the other a double Coleman comfort airbed.

Add-ons a bonus: ie. extension / canopy / carpet! Some sort of storage pockets?

DP likes lots of doors! So need at least 2.

HH at least 3000.

Budget ideally less than £300 as we still plan on buying big tent later in year! Though can stretch a bit if it's a real bargain!

Don't want much do I? 17

Any suggestions much appreciated! Thanks..

Oooh, I remember being quite interested in these months ago - that's a good price 17

I assume there are curtains on all of the (huge) windows? I seem to remember DP was put off by the number of windows when we last looked, though thinking about it, I think it was actually the Utah we were considering and that was also blue  (DP very particular about his tent colours... blue is too bright and the new Outwell Mocha is like sitting in diarrhoea. Apparently. I quite like it, mind 17)

Is it about the same size as the Montana 6? Smaller? Bigger?

Thanks 17

There is curtains covering all the windows, look at the specs page on the Outwell site, think the Dakota is slightly bigger than the Monty.

I have a Vango Tigris 800 with the Tunnel extension - great for space and within your budget.

Outdoorlass - looks good, I think I'll show this one to DP tonight!

Alijns - I think the Khyam offiicial photos don't really do them justice! I'm guessing they have all curtains / doors closed on pics hence looking a bit dingy! None on display round here that I know of (N Lincolnshire) so not seen any in real life other than on campsites! Though there was a Quebec next to us last week which looked FAR nicer than it does on all the supplier websites! I quite like the look of the Ontario actually, but DP not keen - v. cheap for 5000HH too! Does it stand up well to bad weather?

Thanks 17

Andylong - funnily enough, I have just been looking at the Tigris + extension on the reviews page!

I like it very much - does it stand up well to bad weather?

I've not seen one in the flesh as none on display local to me (N Lincolnshire) so find it hard to imagine the size! Is it huge?!

Its the same size as the Gelert Horizon 8 and Khyam Ontario if that helps at all! Its certainly a "large" tunnel tent, but not excessive and we have had no problems on sites so far. The tunnel extension (and make sure you get that and no other type!) is fantastic and allowed us to store all of our kitchen equipment, shoes etc out of the main tent. We especially like the flexible room layout which is great if you have kids. We have a double airbed and travel cot in one big room, the other 2 kids in a single room and the 4th room we use as a walk-in wardrobe (kind of!).

We havent tested it in bad weather, but it is fully SIG and the TBS straps (which can be detached to stop you strangling yourself) make the tent feel rigid if the wind picks up. I posted a pic on here:-

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Vango-Tigris-800/875

Pic 4 is mine - note how badly I lined up the extension!
