My choice purely on quality would be the Outwell Maine L.

But please remember that none of these tents are over generous with the living area space.
So 2 adults and 2 children + all your equipment, doesn't give you much space on a rainy day.

Oh right, what would recommendations be then bearing in mind my very limited budget? Would we be better with a dome style with the rooms as pods coming off of either side rather than these vis a vis style ones or a straight forward tunnel with the rooms at one end and living space in front you (do like them styles). Thanks

This looks a super tent but will it not be too big for 4 of us, I thought rule was 2 bigger than your party.  Would we not struggle to fit it in a campsite pitch? Thanks

Hi, The Aztec would indeed be too big for a standard pitch.

What about the Vango Icarus 500 £119.99.It has a decent size living area and because the bedrooms are at the rear you will find it much better to position your equipment. You can at a laterdate add the front extension which would give even more room.

Hi Gill, we are going for a sunncamp prism 8 £149 ebay + free carpet but sig in living area only.

Your choices I think are all vis a vis tents, but because my kids are so small I need to be very near them at night so have chosen this design, see the reviews here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/SunnCamp-Prism/29.  The living space is not vast, but overall a good tent, so I have heard.

We also debated about a sunncamp invader 600 which has more living space, and less bedroom space, and is not so "unusual" looking.  This is at £129 with awnings.co.uk

You need to figure out the internal ups and downs according to your family circumstances. However, generally domes with pods tend to be much more difficult to pitch properly than tunnels. Because tunnels tend to be neat rectangles, with parallel hoops, they are a real doddle to put up. Domes with appendages, because of their irregular shape take lots of practice to get right, and sometimes, if the ground is very uneven, will just never cooperate.

I'll now get loads of posts from peeps saying "Ah but. I can erect my 15 podded Millennium dome in four and a half minutes on the side of a cliff, all by myself!"

Z

I've got a wynnster orion 6 - great buy in the sales earlier this year and I think still some great bargains out there.

It's got a great big living area - really quite huge. A friend with a tourer came in and thought it was really palatial! There are two bedrooms at the back and a porch area at the front. Really good quality, holds up brilliantly in wind and rain and lots of door/window options with insect nets on all. And it has a full sig.

It's 7.3 metres by 5 so fits on a standard pitch. But it takes two to put up - although it's pretty easy to do so. I love it and will continue to use it for all my family camping needs where my other half will be there to help me erect it!

I'll only be replacing it with a karsten (when I win the lottery...)

Lichfield Yacuma 6 + 4

Lichfield Comanche 8

These tents are both £159.99 at JRLeisure.

If it is possible the best way to decide which type of tent you prefer is to go and have a look at a camping display if you can. JRleisure have tents on display and Yeomans have several displays.
