I notice that these come with alloy poles. Never having seen one close up, I'm curious to know if the poles work in exactly the same way as Outwell steel poles, on say a Montana ? I mean, are the pole connections a mixture of round and shaped square and "D" ends ?
Does anyone have any views about a preference for these over steel, apart from the weight ?
cheers

Ours is a curved pole all in one, so you dont have the legs to put onto the top. You need to fit the poles together in a pre determined way so that you get the right curve. Really hard to get wrong though!!
I dont personally like the way that you have to put the hole pole in at once, I preferred it when you could fit the top part of the poles in first then put the legs on.
I prefer the Alloy poles on our NL to the Steel poles on our Last tent (Gelert Utah 4+4), They are a LOT lighter but just as strong. As Emma wrote, the sections are built all in one - in a kind of half hoop, then threaded through the tent. It is a bit more hassle, but the poles are VERY strong.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

Ditto the above, the poles for our trout lake are really strong and can only be joined together one way. My 7 year old daughter helps holding the end of the completed arch while I thread the other end through. She likes to help and by keeping her involved and interested, I could have her putting up the whole thing for me by next year (I wish)

Have had a monty and a bearlake 6, and I prefered the monty poles, just found it easier to put the legs on afterwards, and the steel ones seemed stronger, when pitching our Bearlake the alloy poles seemed like they may not be up to the job and was always felt worried they would bend with the weight of the tent, they were mighty also fiddlier to thread through than the monty. That said our Bearlake has gone back due to leaking like mad so am probably a bit anti BL at the moment, would still not get another tho, and we are currently trying to decide what we want to replace it with !
