Hiya all - have been offered the chance of a vango tent aspen 700 dlx for £175, there 4 of us, 2 adults, 2 young children and all our bits - is this good do you think? Mainly going to be used for long weekends and possibly the main family holidays in future.

As an owner of an Aspen 500 I can atest to the quality of this range . As this was discontinued at the end of 2007, I would think of an offer of no more than £150. As a family tent it will have all the space you need . However it is a steel frame tent that is pitched inner first . Not all bad news, as they tend to handle temperature variations better than other polyester tents and have less condensation issues .

we have this tent and rate it very highly, we also use for long weekends and main holiday. can`t really comment on the price as it obviously depends on year, conditon etc. check out the reviews here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Vango-Aspen-700DLX/7 my review is there plus the pics are mine.

i would like to add, if i was offered my tent in the condition it is in, for £175 then yes i would buy it. hope this helps you.

rich.

We had one of these and loved it. Spacious but cosy with the SIG in the living area too. I would def go for it if in top condition. My sister paid £200 for hers a couple of months back (she was so impressed with ours that she had to have one too!).

thanks for your comments, it also has the carpet as well.  I just bit worried about the weight, the car going to struggle to move by the time we all packed up and loaded 17 as far as I am aware it is in good knick with no probs and even has the hanging rail for the 3rd pod for clothes.

Well if has the capet also , it is about on the money . The hanging rail is standard . So if you can cope with it in terms of space and weight , it will last you until the tent wears out.

We've got the 500 standard version. I have now gone over to canvas, so my wife said to sell it, but there's no way I could ever get rid, it's a great tent.

If you do get one, we use an alternative method to pitch it. We fit the side legs and the roof section together, then raise it up like a tunnel tent then fit the front and back legs. This stops the problem of the roof poles tearing the tubes as they have to be pushed against their natural shape, to form the curved roof section.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
