Hi

We were going to buy a gazebo for when we are camping just a couple of nights and just take the small bedroom tents (only 2 man and not standing height). We would use it for cooking under and maybe sheltering from the sun/rain.  I did have my doubts and from reading on here it doesn't sound like a good idea and are now looking to buy a day room / sun room which we can also use in France with our big tent.  We are wanting one that has sides that can be rolled up or put down so we have either option and also that doesn't take long to assemble and doesn't take much room up in the car.  Does anyone have any recommendations please?

You are right not leave gazebos well alone.

I have a Royal Dayroom which I'm very happy with. But I fear, from previous threads, that there are none left on sale in the country. Another that is highly recommended is the Outwell Oklahoma.

They are, of course, more expensive than a gazebo. But the quality is far superior and will last longer and in worse conditions.

Hi

Thanks for replying, yes I have heard of that one but I think you're right as they all seem to be sold out.  To be honest I was hoping for something that was under £100  Have been looking at :-

Gelert Bourne Summer House

Sunncamp Day Room

Aztec Dining/Day Tent

Wynnster Leisure Shelter

Haven't really seen any more for around those prices. Will keep looking and doing research and hopefully will get some more replies on here and even maybe some  who own these.

Thanks again for replying

Thanks will have a look at them - duffs54 what decided you on that particular one then?

Does anyone know what they will tend to be classed as at a campsite for pricing, i.e. would like to know roughly how much extra cost its going to be on top of the 2 small tents we will have

x

Just a point about size. THe Gelert is slightly bigger at 340 x 340 cm, whereas the Sunncamp and Khyam are both 300 x 300 which is the same size as most gazebos.

It will depend on where you are camping as regards the pricing policy. We recently camped somewhere where we were charged no extra for our Khyam Day shelter, other sites will charge you as they would for a gazebo or an awning, others may charge you for an extra tent!! YOu need to check with the site. Frankly if any site is going to charge you more than they would for a gazebo then you should point out that it is the same size but MUCH MUCH SAFER.

Clare

That's the only thing that worries me Mrs Jubbly that we will be charged for an extra tent!  I must admit the price of the Gelert is more appealing cos wanted to get one as cheap as poss obviously.  Am willing to pay for the price of an awning or gazebo at a campsite but wouldn't be happy if they wanted us to pay for the price of an extra tent.

Do you tell them its a day tent when you ring up and try and explain what its like and NOT mention the word gazebo as they seem to be bad news lol

If they are happy to take gazebos i explain that I have a very safe camping appropriate type. Some places say they are happy to take utility tents - so that is what I refer to it as. It is all things depending on the site's preferences

Quote Thanks will have a look at them - duffs54 what decided you on that particular one then?

Well we decided on the Gelert one because it is the same make as our tent and colour and we are hoping it will just blend in with the tent. If we pitch it right next to one of our 3 openings it will/might look attached.

I had no idea what pup tents were so looked that up, and as no one is sleeping in it, I cant see why they might charge. Gazebo's were a no no after reading lots of posts about them flying off on here.

We are just looking at sites now for Sept and to be safe we are going to ones were they say there is no extra charge for add ons.

Not sure about this bit either but when they mention charges for awnings, do they mean caravan awnings, after all a tent awning hardly takes up any room.

Cheers Jakki

Thanks to everyone who has posted for me, just thought I would let you know that I have ordered today a Wynnster Leisure Shelter!  Hubby had the deciding vote and he wanted more of a tradition gazebo shape rather than a singing dancing sun room etc.  This way we get to have it as a traditional gazebo most of the time but with the option of zipping sides on if we want.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it

Shell
