Has anyone else with a pop up and base combo been charged extra (eg having the small tent charged as a pup or the base as a day tent) or have all sites just accepted them as one unit.

We have the base which we use as a kitchen tent with our pop up attached which we use for storage. We have been to a few sites with this set up and only CCC gave us grief because of the 6 metre rule. Most commercial site staff wouldnt know that the pop up and base are separate so keep quiet and hopefully they will not notice.

Ahh - the 6 metre rule, I hadn't event thought of that! What was the outcome, did you have to move them apart and pay for 2 pitches or did they allow it after some grumbling?

We've been told that we would be charged as though they were all separate tents - that was in France. Don't know if they're more reasonable here...

We weren't charged for them separately. Depends on the site I guess, best thing to do is ask and not go if they want to charge extra or don't ask and try it and see if you get away with it?

I've just bought a Base Seconds Full to pop onto the front of my Base 4.2
The way I see it, using them in this manner is no different to someone with (eg) a Monty 6, with an extension.
I can see that a smaller pop up tent poking out the side of the Base Full would look like a 'pup tent' and may be charged accordingly, but at the end of the day the entire floor space taken up by all of those is still a fraction of some of the larger tents out there.
