I dont really know how to use this message board but i do know about tents and have been camping for 45 years in every type of tent possible. We bought our Kyham 5/6 years ago after our kids wrecked our fabulous old frame tent when using it for a 21st party. We bought our Kyham Classic (now called the Chatsowrth)  on recommendation from friends and Camperlands. We were advised that it was the biggest and eastiest touring tent to put up. It takes 5 minutes to put the basic living area up. My husband pegs out whilst I sort out our speedy errect cooker, fridge, wash stand, bedding area etc. The whole process from stopping the car to making a cup of tea  takes 20 minutes. We have just returned fro a 4,000 mile tour of Europe with this tent. Its speed of errection caught everyone's eye and a Dutch couple went on line and ordered one within a day of seeing ours. These tents are under sold because sellers do not always appreciate their ease and conveneince. The tent remaind safe in monsoon night rains in europe and was cool (with the use of the inbuilt mosquito nets) in heats of 48' when parked under trees. We fixed second mosquito net to the side door for extra comfort in Sienna!

If we stay longer than 3 nights we can put up a lightweight wind break or add on the Khyam universal awning to add extra space .

It will take a couple of prcatices to get use to the method of putting up the tent, but basically it works like an umbrella with attatched poles clicking into place.

Great choice of a tent IMHO!

I got the bigger Excelsior XL which I cannot pitch up on my own, and am keeping it, as I hope to find camping companion one day and it will be ideal for 2 people plus a couple of dogs.

I now have a smaller Freelander tent, which I can pitch up on my own. Much less space when compared with the Excelsior XL, however, it is only for me and Borda, so it is ideal size for both of us.

Anyway, good choice, and glad you like your Khyam! Happy camping!

Yup, we love our Khyam(s). We've got a Ridgipod, which takes a bit longer than the Chatsworth to pitch - more poles for starters (though with extra pods we have slept 10 in it :-) Normally we just use it for the four of us.

As you say, they are very sturdy in poor weather

I'd quite like a Chatsworth as a weekender :-)

Hi Samcd & welcome to the forum 17 I've never owned a Chatsworth, but I've had a nosey around them a couple of times, and I must say I was impressed 17

I had one of these, and boy was there trouble, the factory went through a bad patch of using either the wrong size of needle or a blunt one and almost a whole years production leaked (where are you now srnet?). Thankfully that is all in the past, but oh boy what a palavar that was!
