Right - firstly well done getting the tent up - I knew you'd do it!! Now for the guys - difficult to explain in writing but here goes!
Pull the little white thing (the slider) up the guy (there are sort of 2 loops - pull out the one nearest the knot) - this will leave a loop that you can adjust - peg out through this loop. You need to adjust it so that the guy rope is taut and at approximately 45 degree angle to the ground. When you knock in the tent pegs they also need to be at a 45 degree angle sloping in towards the tent. This way the guy and the peg is at a 90 degree angle. (Hope that makes sense!).
Make sure the tension is about the same all round the tent.
The guy ropes need to be positioned so that they follow the seam of the tent.
Tighten/loosen the guys with the sliders.
Before you do any guying or finish pegging out, make sure the door is zipped closed or you will find you struggle with the zip.
Use ALL the guys even if you think it is well enough pegged out without them all - they are there for a purpose and there seems to be a lot of folk around this year who don't bother to use them all - very foolish IMO as wind can get up very quickly!
As far as getting the tent back in the bag, fold it into a long rectangle slightly narrower than the bag, place the poles in their bag across the width of the tent at the end away from the (open) door and roll tightly - if necessary immediately unroll and then reroll to get out even more air and make the sausage shape smaller - it should then fit.
Something that I always do is remove the inner bedroom pod before rolling up - I find the tent is so much easier to pitch with only the flysheet then you can clip in the bedroom afterwards. However, this makes pitching a bit slower but that is just my preference. When I do this, I just fold the 2 pieces and roll together as above.
Hope some of this makes sense - I'm hopeless at explaining things - I bet by the time I hit post reply someone else will have posted a much more easy to understand reply!
------------- Anne - mad mum to one - foster mum to many - adoptatent to you guys!
