U all seem to b hardened campers here with lots of knowledge to share so thought I might ask for a bit of help - I have spent the past 2wks researching the million different tents about for families..

I realy like the royal bordeaux 6 layout with 2 bedrooms sleeping 4+2 its roomy, light, good head height etc but have been a bit put off by some of the posts here.... about snapping poles etc

We are a family of 5 (3boys) and with the youngest being around a yr we need to have space to have him in with us!

We really need massive living space for the boys incase of rainy weather although we generally are fair weather campers u can never predict it can u?

We have just got rid of a motorhome which was a tight squeeze for 3 kids and used to have an 8 man lichfield tunnel tent when it was just 3 of us which was fine except for head height!

I want to b able to stand up and love the idea of the side porch on the outwell vermont and royal bordeaux - sunncamp is good space wise but no extra porch but cheaper than the others...

we dont really want to spend more than about £350 so are slightly restricted by cost...

Does anyone have any helpful tips for makes to avoid or problems with the particular tents we are looking at??

I think I have looked at too many now and my head is fizzing!!!!

thanks peeps x

I can highly recommend the Khyam Ontario 8.
We're a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 boys - 15, 8 and 3 plus dog)

SIG
Standing height (225cm)
Large bedrooms can accommodate 8 x 75cm wide airbeds
Bedrooms can be divided with curtain
Cable entry
Very easy to erect
Fits on a standard Club pitch
Acres of living space
Large windows with curtains let in plenty of light
Lots of vents (we've never had a problem with condensation)
Excellent 5000HH rating

You can buy carpet and sun porch to turn it into a real home from home.
I would definately recommend buying the footprint groundsheet.

If you search the Net for the best deals, you can buy everything within your £350 budget.

I wouldn't rush into anything at the moment, the end of season sales will be coming up soon , so take your time over the winter and see as many as you can in the flesh before deciding .

if you have a campsite nearby , go along this weekend and have a stroll around and good nosey at the tents, probably loads about this BH weekend , and ask the owners their opinions. You'll probably get guided tours and see how they look with all the kit inside too. much better way to make your mind up than seeing an empty tent at a display.

well, you would if you came and asked me about my tent
